Y13 German, Term 1 2011

This year you will further expand and deepen your knowledge of German and extend your personal independence in the language.

The four language skills of READING, LISTENING, SPEAKING AND WRITING will be practised through a variety of texts and topics.

The main book we will be using this year is Genau Senior, which you are familiar with from Y12. We will also be using other books, magazine articles, videos and online resources.

Y12 German, Term 1 2011

By now you have acquired basic survival skills in German. This year you will become more competent and achieve personal independence in the language.
You will continue to develop the four language skills (listening, reading, speaking and writing).

The main topic for this year is Young People (Jugendliche). We look at different aspects of their life (relationships with friends and parents, leisure time, health and sport, future plans etc...), using the textbook Genau Senior and various other resources. We will also look at an spect of German history through a film and learn more about the German speaking world.

And what is expected of you?
regular vocabulary learning (5-10 minutes a day) and doing your homework. Tis is very important.

Year 9 German, Term 1 2011

Year 9 German

German classes run for two terms three times per week

Focus:
all aspects of language learning, e.g. listening, reading, speaking and writing

Assessments:
Weekly vocab tests
one speaking, one listening, one reading and one writing test based on topics
an end of course exam (1 hour)

And what is expected of you?
You should learn new words ever day (5 - 10 minutes after every lesson) and do your homework. This is very important!
